JOB SUMMARY: |
Daily cleaning of floors and other assigned areas. Project cleaning of walls, lights, windows, and removal and compacting of trash and boxes, removal of soiled linen, major floor cleaning and refinish functions. Training employees to ensure proper procedure is followed. All work to be done in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with hospital objectives.
Essential Accountabilities:
1. Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
a. Dry mop and wet mop floors
b. Buff Floors with buffing machine, burnish floors with burnishing machine
c. Vacuum and shampoo/extract carpets
d. Scrub floors with floor machine
e. Collect and transport trash
f. Removal of soiled linen
g. Reset room after cleaning
h. Wash walls, hang cubicle curtains, clean stairwells and perform any other assigned project as instructed by management
i. Scrub base floor to remove all soil and finish
j. Refinish to a glossy appearance
k. Shampoo carpets and remove spots from carpets
l. Remove stains and patch finish floors
m. Removal of red waste
1. Handling of red waste must be done according to Main Line Health standards
2. Under the guidance of the department manager, may be responsible for training staff members to ensure policy and procedures are performed.
a. Proper use of materials:
Wet caution signs, scrapers, buffer pads, blowers and extractors
b. Proper use of Housekeeping equipment
c. Proper usage of chemicals:
Finish, finish remover, restorer heavy duty cleaner etc.
d. The use of P.P.E (Personal Protection Equipment).
e. Properly maintaining finished floors.
g. Room set up and discharge cleaning.
h. Any other housekeeping functions relevant to their role
*The Sr. Environmental Services Associate will perform floor care responsibilities outlined in Accountability #1 and/or Accountability #2 as part of their role. All other accountabilities are required.
3. Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report any machine malfunctions.
4. Observe and report need for repairs of hospital equipment, furniture, fixtures, etc.
5. Assist with evacuation of patients in the event evacuation is needed.
6. Participate in hospital Disaster Drill Plan.
Other Accountabilities:
1. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
2. Must function independently, be flexible and have the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Knowledge of Equipment:
- Able to use Battery Operated Floor Scrubbers, Buffers and Burnishers (if responsible for floor care.)
- An ability to be trained is essential.
Customer Service:
1. Provides friendly customer service by:
- Being considerate of customers and everyone with whom you come into contact.
- Helping customers and co-workers, in a pleasant manner when required.
QUALIFICATIONS: |
Education:
1. Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
Licensures & Certifications: None
Experience:
1. 1-2 years previous housekeeping experience
2. Knowledge of floor machine use (Buffer, Burnisher, Extractor, Battery Operated Equipment, etc.) required.

1. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 pounds required.
2. Ability to stand for up to 100% of the shift required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: |
1. Standing, pushing, pulling, and constant movement required.
2. Lifting up to 35 pounds required.
3. Must be physically able to handle all housekeeping equipment.
4. Must be able to climb ladders
