EMT-P / CCEMT-PARAMEDIC Community ParamedicThe ALSU EMT-Paramedic / CCEMT- P is a leader, and integral component, of the pre-hospital care provider team, providing basic and advanced life support to any individual in need of care in time of sudden illness or injury. The EMT-Paramedic functions under the provision of Act 45 and other applicable State laws and under Delaware County Medical Command regulations. The EMT-Paramedic functions in cooperation with other service providers and agencies to optimize the effectiveness and quality of care and services provided and to maintain the standards of pre-hospital emergency care. In addition, the EMT-Paramedic continuously strives to ensure that all persons they contact view Main Line Health as a quality service provider. A Community Paramedic is a certified EMS professional that has completed a formal standardized educational program through an accredited college or university and has demonstrated competence in the provision of health education, monitoring and services beyond the roles of traditional emergency care and transport, in conjunction with medical direction. The specific roles and services are determined by community health needs and in collaboration with public health and medical direction.Education: High school graduate.. Licenses & Certifications Successful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic program or its equivalent. Successful completion of an approved CCEMT-P Program or Critical Care Nursing Program Satisfactory completion of practical and written examinations administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Current Pennsylvania certification as an EMT-Paramedic or Pre-Hospital Nurse. Current drivers license valid in Pennsylvania with copy on file. Current BCLS and ACLS certifications with copies on file. Hazmat Awareness, and EVOC/EMSVO all are required. Other certifications are encouraged, such as: NREMT-P, PHTLS, BTLS, PALS, NALS, Firefighting 1 or equivalent.Experience: Minimum of two years of pre-hospital advanced life support experience or equivalent experience. Knowledge of normal and abnormal patterns of growth and development of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of medications utilized in the treatment and management of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of basic and advanced life support and resuscitation procedures for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of illness and disease processes involving neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to appropriately assess and manage care of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to provide for the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to appropriately operate basic and advanced equipment in the care of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and qualities necessary to handle stressful situations involving neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients and their families in emergent and non-emergent situations daily. Have successfully completed a 12 lead ECG program and demonstrate ability to interpret 12 lead ECG Demonstrate knowledge and skill in balloon pump transport as well as other invasive monitoring lines Demonstrate the ability to manage, trouble shoot, utilize transport pumps, monitors and Equipment utilized by the CCTU
