The ALSU EMT is a leader, and integral component, of the pre-hospital care provider team, providing basic life support and facilitating advanced life support to any individual in need of care in time of sudden illness or injury. The EMT functions under the provision of Act 45 and other applicable State laws, and under Delaware County Medical Command regulations. The EMT functions in cooperation with other service providers and agencies to optimize the effectiveness and quality of care and services provided and to maintain the standards of pre-hospital emergency care. In addition, the EMT continuously strives to ensure that all persons they contact view Main Line Health System as a quality service providerEducation: High school graduate. Successful completion of an approved EMT-MAST program or its equivalent. Satisfactory completion of practical and written examinations administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.Licenses and Certifications Current Pennsylvania certification as an EMT or NREMT Current drivers license valid in Pennsylvania with a copy on file. Current BCLS certification Hazmat Awareness, and EVOC all are required. Other certifications are encouraged, such as: NREMT, PHTLS, BTLS, Fire I or equivalentExperience: Minimum of two years of pre-hospital basic life support experience preferred Knowledge of normal and abnormal patterns of growth and development of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of medications carried for use by the EMT-Paramedic in the treatment and management of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of basic and advanced life support and resuscitation procedures for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge of illness and disease processes involving neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to appropriately assess and manage care of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to provide for the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations. Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to appropriately operate basic equipment and assist with the operation of advanced equipment in the care of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations consistent with level of training and certification. Knowledge, ability, and qualities necessary to handle stressful situations involving neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients and their families in emergent and non-emergent situations on a daily basis.
