Could you be the next Coding Specialist on our Health Information Management (HIM) team? 
This position is a Remote role.  A pre-employment coding assessment will be administered as part of the interview process.  
  • Make an Impact! There are two available full-time day shifts: Sunday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Saturday. Our Hospital Coding Specialists demonstrate the ability to continually learn coding guidelines. They utilize performance feedback to enhance their coding skills, and they have an aptitude for basic code assignment and problem-solving. They are assigned ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes according to MLHS-specific guidelines, and coding and reporting guidelines via AHA, AMA, AHIMA, CMS, and NCHS.

Employees pursuing an approved course of study can receive reimbursement for the cost of tuition at an approved educational institution. Up to $6,000 per payroll calendar year, prorated based on standard authorized hours. This includes covering employees’ annual AHIMA dues.

Professional Coding Specialist II
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience coding ICD-10 CM,ICD-10 PCS, and CPT-4, and competency of at least two (2) record types 
Education, Licensures & Certifications: 
  • Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA or AAPC-approved program 
  • Credentials from AAPC such as CPC, COC (formerly known as CPC-H), CPC-A, or AHIMA credentials such as CCS, CCA, or CCS-P eligible
 
Hospital Coding Specialists II and III
  • Hospital Coding Specialist II: Minimum of one (1) year of experience coding ICD-10-CM, ICD-10 PCS, CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC and competency of at least two (2) record types.
  • Hospital Coding Specialist III: Minimum of three (3) years of experience coding ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS,  and CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC and competency of at least two (2) record types, and CCS.
Education, Licensures & Certifications
  • Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA or AAPC-approved program 
  • Credentials from AAPC such as CPC, COC (formerly known as CPC-H), CPC-A, or AHIMA credentials such as CCS, CCA, or CCS-P eligible
