In this leadership role as the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCO) you will report to the MLH President & CEO and will be a member of the Main Line Health Corporate Compliance team with primary responsibility for developing and implementing the corporate compliance program, including compliance with the HIPAA privacy rule. You will lead the Compliance Department, the Main Line HealthCare Compliance team and the Office of Research Affairs. Together with the MLH General Counsel you will share the role of Conflict of Interest Officer for the organization. Function as an independent and objective presence that reviews and evaluates compliance and privacy issues and concerns within MLH. Assure accurate submission of claims to the Federal government and other payers, compliance with the Physician Self-Referral Law (STARK) and the Federal Anti-kickback statute, compliance with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and oversight of other risk areas identified in the Compliance Program Guidance and Supplemental Compliance Guidance published by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General. Oversee all aspects of the HIPAA privacy rule to ensure compliancy throughout the organization. Communicate with all levels and operating areas including making presentations to the governing Board and its Committees and represent the organization's compliance interests to external regulators and various industry associations
Advanced Degree required. Accounting or law degree highly preferable.
Minimum of 10 years of compliance and HIPAA privacy experience, preferably in a multi-provider health system or third-party payor setting.
Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and HIPAA regulations, including involving reimbursement and privacy issues.
Solid experience with health care operations, particularly those related to medical record documentation, financial administration and use or disclosure of protected health information external to the organization.
Vast knowledge of issues impacting physician practices including documentation and coding, auditing, and the regulatory environment.
Strong knowledge of the compliance and privacy issues impacting medical research and the intersection of the privacy rule and research issues.
