Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Assists in all types of cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology procedures. Provides safe and efficient patient care and other related cardiac cath/ep procedure laboratory duties to ensure efficient operation of the laboratory.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Provides safe and efficient patient care.
- Greets patients, explains procedures and establishes rapport.
- Transfers/lifts
patients from table to stretcher.
Reviews patients record and monitor patient throughout the procedure; assesses the patient and prioritizes his/her needs. Monitors patient until appropriate patient room is found.
Performs general technical tasks.
Operates X-ray, cardiovascular and other equipment as appropriate, i.e.; Mennen, EP Med, CARTO, ESI, Fischer and GE x-ray equipment.
- Evaluates x ray images for technical quality.
- Assists with administration of contrast media.
- Prepares sterile procedure tables.
- Practices aseptic technique at all times.
- Ensures safe and efficient operation of the cardiac cath/electrophysiology laboratory.
- Maintains laboratory and patient records as necessary.
- Ensures proper name and numbering of patients for labeling of charts, file folders, film jackets, and cineangiograms.
- Participates actively in cardiac cath/electrophysiology laboratory’s quality assurance program as required.
- Maintains radiation safety data as required by state and national agencies.
- Complies with Hospital Documentation Standards
- Performs appropriate patient education and pre-procedural chart checks.
- Prepares and completes all required forms for each procedure.
- Records and determines charges for procedures.
- Properly dates and labels report.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the consideration of patient age as a factor in the performance of various modalities and treatment procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Cath Lab Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Current CVT Training. RCIS, RCES or ARRT required
Licensures & Certifications:
RCIS, RCES or ARRT required
BLS obtained within 3 months of hire.
ACLS obtained within 1 year of hire.
Experience:
Current Cardiovascular Technician experience.
Current knowledge of cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures acquired through previous experience in a laboratory required.
