Health Information Specialist - Home Care

The Health Information Specialist is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all incoming documents for the EMR in order to comply with regulatory standards. This includes the procurement and quality review of all physician documentation to ensure compliance with home health and hospice regulations. Also responsible for the Management of all ADRs and payer denials of payment, and responding to requests from Medicare and Managed Care auditors/contractors (RAC, QIO, ZPIC, etc).

Provides support and troubleshooting assistance to other departments related to the EMR system and its functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:1. Ability to understand written and verbal instruction in English sufficiently to perform job. 2. Strong communication skills required for the high volume of phone calls with physician offices, facilities, and hospitals.3. Understanding of regulations for all payers relating to homecare and hospice reimbursement preferred, i.e. Face to Face, consents, signed orders. 4. Ideal candidate will possess abstract problem solving and critical thinking skills, exceptional organization and prioritization skills. Must have ability to multi-task, possess strong recall and recognition skills and be detail oriented. Education: Associates degree preferred.

Experience: 1. Home care experience working with clinical records and/or third party payors preferred.2. Working knowledge of PC and Web based information systems.3. Knowledge of Excel preferred.4. Phone and/or customer service experience preferred.
