Assessment Process: MLHS coding assessment and orientation will be conducted onsite. Proficiency of at least one record type of 80% or greater is required. This will determine Coder's Level.

Make an Impact! Our Hospital Coding Specialist I demonstrates the ability to continually learn coding guidelines. Demonstrates ability to continually learn coding guidelines. Utilizes performance feedback to enhance coding skills. Demonstrates aptitude for basic code assignment and problem-solving. They assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes according to the Official Guidelines for coding and reporting - including, but not limited to AHA, AMA, AHIMA, CMS, NCHS, and MLHS-specific guidelines.

Experience

Up to one (1) year experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC assignment

Possess a working knowledge of DRG and APC assignment

Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA-accredited program required
- Associate Degree strongly preferred

CCA / CCS or eligible
