The Assistant Nurse Manager works directly with the Manager to ensure safe, high quality patient care in an efficient and organized manner. The Assistant Nurse Manager accepts responsibility for assigned areas under the direction of the Nurse Manager such as directing work for, approving schedule changes and overtime, managing employee performance and completing assigned performance appraisals. They ensure appropriate staffing needs are met, through scheduling and staffing. The Assistant Nurse Manager demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary for overseeing patient care activities in a fiscally sound manner and assures operational efficiency. The Assistant Nurse Manager works collaboratively with other departments to ensure quality patient care, satisfaction and a culture of safety while assuring a superior patient experience. The Assistant Nurse Manager facilitates shared decision-making initiatives, at the clinical, departmental, and system levels, resulting in a top decile outcomes in safety, patient experience & quality. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions in accordance with professional practice standards as set forth by the American Nurses Association, PA Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards and MLH policies and procedures. 

 Education: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN or other related Bachelors Degree required; MSN or other related Masters Degree preferred. Ability to communicate proficiently in English to perform job duties. 

 Licensures & Certifications: A current PA RN license. Maintains validation of current BLS training (CPR). Certification in specialty area desired. BSN or MSN required 

 Experience: Unit-specific. Prior charge nurse experience or other related leadership experience preferred. Three to five years clinical experience in area of responsibility preferred.
